Are the struts not simply to hold the bonnet/decklid up at a desired angle, also without leading to twisting on the bonnet or wear of the spring/spot welded on plate in the case of the dekclid?

Look at how a single prop bonnet bends when it's open, wouldn't want that on your nicely painted car all day at a show...:wink:
