Hey Everyone,I'm new to this forum but have been into VW's for a while I'm currrently in the process of buying a nice Oval window and was wondering if anyone knew how many were actually shipped into the United States as standard beetles. also where can I find info on putting this standard back to original, I'm thinking it still has the original motoor and all. Any help would be great..

Apparently, it's not too good mechanically...
He tried to flog that one off to me as part exchange with my 48.
I actually think it's a 55.

The Belgian Importer D'Ieteren modified all the standard beetles in Belgium.
They putted chrome bupmers, chrome headlightrims, chrome doorhandles outside, chrome engine lid handle, front bonnet handle, chrome trim on the rear lights and chrome hubcaps but no side chrome trims they where red or pastel white painted aswell the wheels in same colour.

All standard models after 1949 be it German homemarket or export standards like in Belgium, Holland or Switzerland had chromed headlamp rings. :wink:
