Interesting - congratulations LK!

Patrik: "The white car in Mexico" surely must be identical to number 19 on your list. No 19 was white and was in Mexico...came to Arizona in 1997...then on to North-eastern USA and became restored and burgundy.. There can not be two white Mexico-cars "in the world"...?

Interesting,

If that is true, it means that there are only 18 D&S in the world and not 19.
Or there must be another red/burgundy in the US.

Here are pictures of the Silver D&S from Suisse. It is the second D&S build. I found these pictures in an issue of the IVVM.

Hi Patrick, I have a copy of the Coachbuilt VW club VW elite from jan 2006 in wich a Austrian D&S is posted in white color I think. It wears a Wiener licence plate. Owner was a certain mr Ettel. I'll try to scan it in but the pict is on normal paper and not glossy so it is not that clear.
Okrasa engine with mushroom filters, dual hella fanfare horns, center antenna on split screen front window and smeperit logo on the back below the engine cover .

best regards.... now I need a new heb from you....8)

Speaking of the Shaill-writings. Between us in here I assume we have about everything Shaill has written on coachbuilts... be it the UK Spit Club newsletters, the IVVM Magazine, the Coachbuilt Registry newsletters and the VW Elite magazines... Has anybody a) asked Bob for permission to scan and post (whole magazines I mean)...b) Digitalized these wonderful things?

How about getting permission to digitalize and then share some of these? Fantastic sources for information...and the 1985-95 material is no doubt the most important reason why I am a coachbuilt-fanatic myself...

Thanks for putting this post together, D&S's are my favourite coach built. Hessisch 2005 was like metal porn for me, I spent a very long time just sitting taking in the amazing line up of cars. I was cheesed off with myself for my very poor German, when I found out who was speaking on the Saturday evening too, loved seeing the drawings - would love to have a copy of those on my garage walls for inspiration. I sat and chatted with the Australian guy who bought the black 54, lucky guy.

If you work hard enough dreams can come true, I have the garage space...

Absolutely! Gorgeous cars.

Some photos I pinched from somewhere. It really shows the clean lines off without the bumpers fitted.

The owner of the black car in the US contacted me and will sent me some pictures (not digital). As soon as I get them, I will scan the pictures and put this car in the overview.

That is the last one and then this overview is complete :d

Patrick, gents,

Please don't bet any cars ... it's too risky :-)

I run the "D&S World Registry" since 1977, which contains some 800 photos of 43 different D&S cars. A world compendium about D&S is in preparation.

A part-photo of the missing black DNS in the USA is attached, so is a photo-clip of number 19 (1953) from Germany (PS: I might send these pics to Patrick as I cannot upload them for whatever reason).

Please make sure that the correct spelling is always used, being: DANNENHAUER & STAUSS.

Cheers.

Andy.

Welcome to the forum Andy

I've admired and been a fan of the D&S since photos of your green car were published in Colin Burnham's Air Cooled VW's book about 25 years ago. I just realised how old that makes me feel!

Wow - Andy Luzzi.. Welcome to the forum!

The pictures of your green one also inspired me to start hunting for coachbuilts almost 20 years ago. I even have a "pre-internet-days" letter from yourself describing how un-obtainable the D&S was/is based on my request to buy one...

So - Andy - enlighten us: How many were built and how many are known?

And I guess I can keep my Coupe, since the Patrick-list grew from 18 to 19 just after my post...

Is there anywhere one can see/read Andy's registry?

From what you write I understand that there is now confirmed 18 survivors in both registries - so to speak?
