I can remember scrapping my parents 1961 Canterbury Pitt (reg 4771R). I stripped it right out and then had a scrap metal dealer come and take the body away.
It was scrapped because it failed it's MOT needing some welding around the frame head and a new exhaust. It would have been a little under 20 years old by then so considered an old vehicle that wasn't worth bothering with. They replaced it with a 1964 Devon (reg BER 265B).
The '61 had bullet indicators and a pre-clean air 34BHP engine. The back axle was noisey and there was a lot whining coming from the reduction gears. But it made it all over the UK and Scotland and even over Hard Knott and Wrynose passes in the Lake District.
Those were the days...
