The stock chrome kills those for me. I´m sure something could be done to make it "work" though.

The TypeII would still be worth £15k to some nut.:d

That's ruled out my plan of selling the Routemaster and buying a double deck car transporter to take the splits out to shows on.:(

My '49 has og skirts on it - just goes so well with the ally bumper spats its also got - has a look like no other Beetle imo.

The skirts further remove the vintage Beetle from its later 60's on cousins. Love 'em.8)

John, could I be cheeky and ask if there's any chance you could post up pictures of the cars you have now? By the sounds of things you've got quite a collection, and I'm sure besides me there are others on here who would love to see them.

Gavin.

Is it me or does Rattletrap have a knack of avoiding certain posts, like here for example. Does this wonderful 1949 split exist, has anybody seen it. Do any of the other claimed cars exist. He says he has 10BXK Tony Levy's car, you know the one, but has anybody seen pictures of him with that either. Its not been seen at any shows for years:?

Never seen skirts on a Ghia before. They certainly give it a different look. Pity about the rest...

Who said "hairdressers car"?

They seem to work better on the Ghia than the Beetle. Not sure I'd add them to Old Blue though.

I have pictures. And i won't post them.Much as i disagree with John's methods of keeping his cars. It's for him to post pics,if he so wishes.

BTW. John owns all he claims to own and yes he avoids certain posts and questions.

I was sent the following photo of the prototype Ascort coachbuilt yesterday by the daughter of the car's designer.

It is interesting that the photo has been printed reversed (the car was right hand drive). I wonder if the photo was printed to promote it for the American market, where it was hoped to sell the car. :?

That is the legit part of my post. I am going to break the rules here and also add a link to something that is not quite stock 😳 ..... but I love it! Each year in the town where I live the Australian National VW drags are held. There are not too many stock cars present, but some are still fantastic to see. The black bus in this video is actually road registered and drives to the event. Obviously it is not to be taken lightly in any traffic light drags.

On the Tatra VW thread he claims he owns those amazing Batmobile looking things as well.

Then there's the guy in N.Ireland who also hoards rare cars and VWs that are never seen, I guess there are others around the UK also. Strange to have all these things just hidden away. Don't think I could keep such amazing cars just locked away, I'd want to show one off just a little.:d
