I think the rear window in what's left of this VW is from a Fiat 500 – yuk:!:

If so, there's at least one good reason to lose this car or restore it (which is a bit like restoring a shirt from two halves of a broken button) :?

The person responsible for this sheet metal butchery forgot to fit the larger 1965 on Beetle side windows to complete the 'modern look'.

The excitement of finding this car would be like being told there's a 1947 Beetle dumped in the local field, followed by the complete disappointment of getting to it to find it has been totally fitted out with 1303 body parts, windows and a golf engine stuck in the back. But then this poor old '38 would have been better off with such a conversion :wink:

If you buy to invest, collect or just to preserve as 'time warp', surely that's the individuals right to what is their property.

Some collect stamps, coins, antiques or art while others collect beautiful old Volkswagens or other interesting cars – automobile art. There's no written rule that you have to take your precious 'jewel' onto the road and risk it being knocked about 😳

I like dark grey myself, but I think it has to be black as it seems the 38's were.

Get rid of that awful back window and windscreen as a priority then it'll look only half as bad. Expect a later split window clip can be modified to match the original '5 rib' style.

Well that's how I'd start, then looking more like an old VW would give me the incentive to do the real nasty and expensive stuff :wink:
