just lock the car in the garage for 20 years.
This sort do it not knowing what a total dick they appear.

I think that's a bit harsh:!:

If you buy to invest, collect or just to preserve as 'time warp', surely that's the individuals right to what is their property.

Some collect stamps, coins, antiques or art while others collect beautiful old Volkswagens or other interesting cars – automobile art. There's no written rule that you have to take your precious 'jewel' onto the road and risk it being knocked about 😳

No,wrong again.
I was referring to the Dicks that pick a car to pieces for non original parts.
Not those that lock their cars away. They are keeping it safe for me to come along later and buy it from them.Just like your '49 John.
And what the hell are you doing with that quote key,how come your screens appear different to all others.

She'll (my '49) put in an appearance one day George 😎

At the moment she's rubbing shoulders with a '47 VW and a rather nice '37 Tatra 87. But she knows who's queen

I've got the quote thing okay now :d

Rattletrap – the Volkswagen Beetle that has covered an incredible mileage equivalent to over 35 times around the planet :omg:
Running nifty since 1950… the King of Volkswagens:beer: Why not make friends with this famous little VW – he's on facebook!

I don't think there's anything wrong with collecting and storing away, it's a shame not to enjoy the car out on the road - but thats up to the owner, nobody else. But then to publicly criticize what someone else does with their car on a public forum is more than a little hypocritical!

Anyway, it's got to be black 😎

Theres lots of reasons why people lock there cars away .When you have invested a lot of time in a car and take it to a show those petty remarks like 'why havnt you changed the rear valence 'and shouldnt it have a 25 hp engine in it' start to get a bit tediuous after a few hours.Despite my acceptance of peoples right to riticise it can get personal and leaves you wishing you had left it at home.

It's been so long since I've had a VW I could take to a show, that I wouldn't know about any of that  but if people critisise my car too much, I'll just slam it to the floor and then everyone will love it regardless of it's incorrectness

When you get really OLD birthdays are a GOOD thing to have!

BTW, I think if you want to preserve the non-VW bits, then make posters showing it or make a replica as it was when it was found, or have a book of the progress photos of the resto'. But by all means, restore the VW as perfectly as it can be.

ps Is that colour or color? How about a poll? These polls are taxing!

pps I call dibs on/reserve for me the next VW38, VW39, VW30 barn-find that is in good, recognizable condition!

Like birthdays ?
