Someone who posts on here enquired about having the hood on his cabrio replaced by Steve Hudson at Carmagic.
Steve has moved on from Carmagic now.
He rang me today saying he unfortunately did not have the details of the person who had made the enquiry.
If that person reads this and wishes to proceed PM me and i will pass Steve's new contact details on.

Might I ask how much I would be looking at for a new top from this guy?
Assume a "worst case scenario" and include new wood and - well - everything! Can you give me a rough idea?

If you want the full monty i.e new wood, strip, bead blast and repaint frame(not steve's side of things)
Then strech wool headliner,Sonnenland outer--new everything basically trims, clips, padding etc.
Never added it all up when i did it 'cos it frightened me.
But i reckon £5K:shock: .
Probably not so dear for you JD but the wood alone for my car was over a grand(think later pattern wood is more cheaply available)

You would be better off going to KHM surely.

Spot on George. The wood I've got (from KK about £1k). The trim strips are on their way from Chuck in the US and the frame will have been ecoated and painted. For Steve to put it all together with the stretch wool headliner and the Sonnenland outer it'll come to around £3.5-4.0k

There´s nothing so expensive as a cheap Karmann Kabrio - right kids?

I spoke to KHM in person on Sunday at the Retro Classics show. He said 5K euro and another guy from the Black Forest said 4K. I was just thinking it might be cheaper in the UK right now, due to pound being on its uppers.

The only plus was KHM saying that he could make the hood easily removable by using screws instead of nails and doing the rear wood in two halves, pinned together. Should be reasonably easy to get off for paint and bodywork in the future.
