I'd imagine that reply was simply a copy/paste from the wrong template message (no doubt you knew that already!) and also that English isn't "Richard Lewis'" native language. Out of curiousity, where was the original advert placed and what method did he use to get in touch with you?

Unfortunately no site is safe from scammers (even piano sites by the looks of it!), you can assume anything that asks for 'last price', 'payment method' and 'shipper' in the same email is a scam.
