Baffles me though why people with cars covered in rust call it patina, when its just decay

There is a limit to patina in my eyes too. My oval is rock solid shiny floors, no rot, but some dents and some very light surface rust coming through in places. It would be an
easy resto back to a mint car with a simple exterior only repaint. But if it was like that now? however immaculate, I would'nt want to own it..
But then mine is a bog standard oval and there are many better og ones out there anyway.
But on the flipside, like everyone else, it
pained me to see 55kabs car being used out in the weather when it was unrestored, so restoration and preservation of a special car like that is FAR better than any 'patina'-!
I dont know what I would do with those^ :? Old british built cars seem to just rust badly full stop so always need repainting some time simply to survive at all. It is rare to see a 50's british car of any ilk still in original paint at the classic (non vw) shows I go to.
There was a guy at the weekend with an immaculate mgb gt that was a crowd puller, but I then was told it had been re-shelled with a complete brand new off the shelf shell 3k before paint, and all the old parts from the og car put on it.
I lost interest in that car in a millisecond
