This and the other car are different blues, surely one must be incorrect as colours were very limited back then:mellow:

The way to end a good day out with your Split is with an Ovaltine!

Hi Anna,
I think you may be getting two different cars mixed up. The one that is for sale at the moment at $75k is the one you are refering to on p.50 of the KCW restoration thread. This is still stock and located in the US.

I spoke to the owner in November. I think it needed some work to make it roadworthy when it entered the UK, nothing serious. It should be registered and on the road soon.

Going through auction today with Coys at the NEC Birmingham, a familiar red 1950 sunroof split, lot number 256, estimate £18,000 - £22,000

Not now, it is all going on oak and house materials :omg:

But we have always valued our 50 sunroof at 20k too. ie. its definitely not for sale but we would never sell it for less than that if it was, and although mostly og paint, it is a LOT scruffier looking than Matts. I would have to sell a couple of others to be 'allowed' to buy matts though  and it would also be silly to have 2 exact same model&year car's, that would still never get used

As you and I know, while there are a fair amount splits (and early ovals too) with sunroofs out there, I would guess many or even most are not original sunroof cars ..!

It ok for most of you men, but in our house we have to have his & hers of everything, 2 splits, 2 ovals, 2 1303's, and we always seem to reach a stalemate when we decide we should really sell something..."ok we will sell yours and we will keep mine as its better"

mrs herbie you are lucky lady to own so many cars and valuable ones too.

My Beetle is 1971 and I like it very much.

In 1983 I went to Bad Camberg and my car was only 29 years old and ovals and splits seemed rare, my car would now be many pounds! (it was Karmann)

I cannot go now in my 40!! year old car and it is worth very little.

It is a 1200 with roundy bumpers and is very bare inside. It is very noisey and is like an early car I think but not so pretty.

I will try buy another old one soon.

But worth very little:? What would I choose, a 1999 'New Beetle' or your gem.8)
