Not sure how that illustrates your point.

I have been resisting the temptation to post much on my restoration efforts as I do not see many others doing it and I did not know if my slow anature efforts would be welcomed.

I know exactly what you mean, I've not posted stuff for the same reason. I'd love to see the progress on the Ascort, it would be welcomed!

That there was a bad incident hear by 2 people that did now who each was is proof enough

Nothing would have stopped that incident. There was some history and it would have happened some day, some where.
Names were known to each other and the parties had met.
So for the third time you have had the facts pointed out to you.
I was one of the parties involved and i have choosen to post my real name. It's not like everybody, at the time, didn't know who it was any way.

So i take it from the NO voters they will not be joining any of the casual group meetings at shows and introducing themselves.
Except James and Anna of course, who everybody knows anyway.:p

It takes two to tango, and you must be at least as guilty of the affray here as the other person, yet you are still allowed to continue to post on these forums. This speaks a lot about things, especially as the conditions of use are made clear when you sign up to be a member. I get a little tired of the tone of your follow up posts to Jon's or mine. I'd not particularly want to meet you at any meeting thanks. If JD, Cool Splitty or Mrs Herbie have or want the pleasure...

Both of us are still allowed to post here. And i don't profess to being innocent.
Both you and your sons posts here would be far more credible if you had your facts in order. But it seems you are content, as i have said before, to post what you think you may have heard.Or possibly it's what you wished you could have heard.

I'm not fully knowledgeable on old VWs and may make an error, as anyone else could.

Judging by the poll, the yes brigade will get their way. A thought though, let people that want to add their real names do so, as some have, and see how it goes for a couple of months. Those like myself may well become more drawn to doing so if this more friendy theory shines through.

I'm not really interested in dwelling on an argument that happened ages ago, but for the record both parties are still allowed to continue to post on these forums if they want to.

I think sometimes you may want to look at the tone of your own posts, maybe it doesn't come across the way you intend it to, or maybe it does - but it is often quite abrasive.

I also find it interesting how the people who are against the idea slip into using people's first names in their posts. Who's Jon?

I'm a member of another forum where there isn't a first names policy, but the regulars use first names anyway so there might as well be. It certainly makes things more friendly over there. I'm in favour and have amended my signature accordingly.

I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I have met several members at shows. (I'm the one with the zwitter known to many and previously owned by most. He's fine, by the way:d )

I am totally with you Mike. First real names may be nice and I do support the move, but it is the way people act toward eachother that makes it friendly or otherwise.

I´d counter by saying that anonymity encourages honesty. I´m far more likely to give you an honest opinion, or tell you anonymously what I think of an individual, or company if I know I won´t be threatened, or blacklisted or whatever.
