Its time to stop this thread so that other members with a split window have the chance do a thread here on their car.

Just like most other early Beetles, winter is a time of hibernation for Rattletrap.

Here he is having one last peek outside before the doors close for winter.

Unlike the cartoon character of Rattletrap, the real Rattletrap looks so sad in this shot. Could it be the thought of another long winter locked away?:(

While I had the camera out to get a shot of Rattletrap, I took a pic of one of my 'lost' in the garden VWs, as requested by member AW on this forum.

As the growth sets back a little for winter, the car, a big-window base model Beetle is just visible. Not visible in the shot is a Standard split (349 GMO). Both cars are of course requiring work to see the road again.

Hi John,

Great to finally see a picture of Rattletrap!

Along with 'AW' and I'm sure many others on this forum, I'd be interested in seeing pictures of your other cars. Am I right in thinking that 'GMO' was one of Bob Shaill's cars, and sported a raised stance and camouflage paint job?

I hope you'll post up more pictures of your 'fleet' soon.

Thanks in anticipation,

Gavin.

That the cars still exist and are in my charge must surely be a great thing.

The rare big-window base model was saved from going to the crusher by me hanging on to it, and who can say what would have happened to the first 'UK' KdF - 349 GMO. There is hope for the future for the cars, but no hope once crushed or broken up. I hope to see both cars back on the road some day.

Let's just say I'm not entirely optimistic about either of these ever seeing the road again.
