(I thought I should start a new thread before we all start waffling ( ok, me mostly  ) about fuel costs on the Post 1972 volkswagens  thread )

SO,

I know this is probably obvious, but how is your hobby being affected by the current economic climate?

Are you attending any less vw shows this year?

Buying more (as some get cheaper) or less new (old) cars? Or just using the vws you have even less? Or more?

This topic came up last weekend at a local classic car show/open gardens we attended, and we could not help but summerise that in fact our old beetles, ie the mid 60's onwards cars are actually FAR more economic than our daily cars!
Although, I am not about to start driving my old ones daily, it certainly makes a nice tidy '68 -72 beetle daily suddenly look very appealing?

I'm sure if you picked up a nice, original 12v beetle, and use it as a daily driver for a year you'd get your money back if you sold it or perhaps even make a small profit!
