Hi there, thanks for the info on 6 volt halogen headlights and LEDs tail lights. The comment was made that the LED tail lights tend to be brighter when viewed from directly behind, but today I was following a modern LED equipped bus and the tail lights were great from any angle? Would any user of these new tail lights please give actual feedback on the improvement if any of the LED over the older tech bulb. Many thanks

It's not to do with how you view the back of the vehicle, but with how the bulb is positioned within the light unit.
My reference to early heart light units was because the bulbs are mounted so you see the side of the bulb, and not the end (see the picture below).

A direct LED bulb swap (if they fit into the reflector) should work great on a '59 as the bulbs are mounted so you view the end of the bulb.
