Looking great Rob!

I finally managed to flick through some of my old show photos today and I have a few pics taken at Avoncroft in the 1990s. Unfortunately, none of your car.

still waiting on the doors, they are rotten!

also made the decision to have the roof and scuttle painted, theres a rust spot under the windscreen rubber, so thought we may as well do it all!

they are original vw metal, cut from a section that Martin has for his ragtop. Gav blasted them clean and then welded in.

I hate repro mounts with a passion

Any idea where I can get some from?

Assume your source has no more...?

look on the samba.com, people seem to have some rust free sections cut from cars.

mine came off Martins rear clip he has for his ragtop, as these arent correct for this year of car.

even then Gav had to repair them slightly.

Decklid now repainted inside and out, and like the rest of the car, after appearing to be rust free, the lid had some surface rust under the paint. All sorted now. the hinges, and spring also got repainted

UserPostedImage

also the doors are progressing, trial fitted here, before the outer door bottom is tacked on

UserPostedImage

back off to the workshop later to hang the decklid and remove the windscreen.
