Just been doing some more work on th 59 Bug and noticed the spare wheel has never had any hub cap clips fitted. The face is flat but it dose have three little indents where the outer lip of the cap fits. its a solid 15 inch rim in black and looks to have never been painted. Any one out there know what it is?

Easy - It is the mate of the identical solid black wheel with no hub cap clips that is sitting in my shed.

Not sure where that one came from either :?

From memory I was once told many years ago that it was the spare wheel from an early 60s standard model beetle. I have no idea if that is true though.

I just went and looked at my wheel. To be honest I had never bothered doing anything with this wheel as it had no clips, but I had never noticed the cast in indents to take a hubcap.

Type 3 with a flat dish chrome cap makes sense.
