if there are some of you out there, a little hesitant about using the Bilstein jacks to lift your early Beetle, I bought for a mere 99p off a well known auction site a jack kit from a Renault megane, the benefit is its about half the size in length of a normal scissor jack / lifts up high enough & tucks away nice & neat - the jack winding handle is the same as my 65 Beetle wheel nuts & you even get a hub cap removal tool (although this does need filing to a tip to fit the holes in the vw hub caps)
