I'm wanting to detail out my 1500 single port. I want to ge it as close to what it looked like from the factory. Can someone give me some pointers as far as paints/correct clamps, and any factory marking? I don't think there are any books out there that address this in great detail. Are there any web sites that address this subject?

Have you tried Laurence Merideths ORIGINAL VW BEETLE book.
Lots of pics of engines in there.

Have a go at your local library,if no joy there then pop over to www.vwheritage.co.uk

They will have it or Ultra VW ,if you subscibe to that mag,you get a discount on the books.
