Hey , Yes it is me again on the same subject.

I have looked over the pictures from the Radclyffe roadster and Hebmuller prototypes and one thing was suspicious.

If you look carefulley :
1 - the semaphores in both cars are exact in the same location.
2 - the doorwindows are exactly equal. the shape is a copy.
3 - the horns in the front wings are on the same spot and I have never seen them on a regular beetle .
4 - the shape of the roof is exactly the same .
5 - both cars have round jacking points. ( for the Radclyff is that obvious)
6- frontwindowframe looks to be the same .
It is hard to see but even the engine lid is almost equal in length.

That is for me, a bit to much the same and equal  on 2 different cars.
You can make a hole in the front quarter pannel but when you compaire them it can not be on the same spot unless you made a patern or it is the same car.

We all know that that car was the start to the beloved hebmuller:
and that Joseph at one point noticed the radclyffe roadster that was crashed I believe, but my idea is that they just restored the crashed car

Anybody with info on this ?

I think maybe Hebmüller also shot kennedy...

The radclyffe was once crashed and rebuilt onto a new floorpan by the british army, the car then saw quite a bit of use after this point.

Hebmüller were desperate for business after the war, they needed to prove to Volkswagen that their conversion would be robust and reliable - I seriously doubt that they would have gambled their future on a rebuilt old army car.

It wouldn't surprise me if Hebmüller borrowed the radclyffe to use as a guide and followed it very closely, as you point out the shape is extremely similar. I doubt that its the same car though.

Also, didn't prototype number 1 have banana overriders on early bumpers? The one above is #2...  5002.jpg You have insufficient rights to see the content.

The interior is similar to later 14a cars, nothing like the earlier roadster but there doesn't appear to be a back seat? On this picture the side windows seem to be more like other Hebs too - might be the camera angle?

Is this #002?? :?  5004.jpg You have insufficient rights to see the content.

Ok You have a point.
But The car stayed in hand of REME . In 48 they handed over the entire factory to Nordhoff and germany. Exit REME and Uk military owners

It was also in 48 that the first prototype with banana overriders was seen...
kind of strange thing to me ..
Wich one shot kennedy Joseph or one of his sons  ....?

Hi malc.
that is indeed nr 2.
This is what I think they did...

Maybe , just maybe they got somehow the body from the radclyffe car.

They updated the body, repainted it : voila Heb proto1
they strugled with major problems....rebuilt car 1 and made it into car 2. Minor details changed...( the interior is alreaddy the same as car nr 4)
Afterwards they striped it again and rebuilt it to create nr 3.
With the window keep braking they changed 1 more time the car and made nr 4...

Remember that in those days it was costly to spill materials...
Why the heck whould they cut up 4 cars to end up with one good example they could show at the public?

On the other hand that pict from malc shows that proto 2 is in the same spot as a production car...? Confusing

Come on, now you're just making up your own history...

https://www.hebmuller.com/Report-14-15.htm

The VA has so far received the following 2 test vehicles:

14-1 Delivery on 3/21/49

Current milage 21,173 km

14-2 Delivery on 1/6/49

Current milage 9,950 km

And it can't be the same car as number 2 has a lower mileage than number 1...

The next paragraphs indicate that all 3 prototypes were used for testing at the same time...

"For the time being, test runs will continue with additional bodies, for which the VA has had to use this vehicle. For this purpose, vehicle 14-1 will be turned over to Mr. Schick until further notice for his long-distance trips to Osnabruck and WuIfrath. Vehicle 14-2 will be taken out of the test runs within the foreseeable future. With your consent and in keeping with what was agreed with Dr. Feuereissen, the VA should receive a new test vehicle (14-3) very soon as a replacement from Hebmüller. The vehicle will have the most recent body reinforcements without any variation, thereby corresponding to the future series fabrication standard (design ch [unreadable])

If vehicle 14-3 is delivered immediately after being ordered by Dr. Feuereissen and given a daily test run distance of approximately 500 km a day, the VA will be able to make a first durability evaluation by mid- July. While I do not expect any more fundamental complaints, I do not anticipate a particularly long service life either. Test runs are to continue until the vehicle breaks apart, in order to ascertain the total service life."

The frontscreen surruond is also different to me. But I could be wrong. ;  5013.jpg You have insufficient rights to see the content.
