Out of interest, what is the going rate for a presentable car or one that needs a full resto? I'm guessing a few Hebs have been sold over the last 3-5 years so the experts must have a handle on prices!

It's very difficult to know what Heb's actually sell for compared to the asking price, assuming they publish a price to start with.

Mine sold for the asking price with about 12 people from around the world all ready to come over to see it.

I paid 50K Euros for mine 5 years ago and sold it earlier this year for 55K Euros.

A few American collectors emailed to say it was WAY too cheap, but that was to do with the exchange rate!

:d

So assuming it was mostly all there and matching numbers, the black/cream one that was on the Samba recently was in the "ball park" price wise? Can't find the ad now.

I know that car is sold now. the black and white one on the samba and it stays in Europe :d .
I even might know who bought it, altough I am not sure, yet but I have a clue.

The prices for a heb depend on the history, the way the car looks, the originality and or the parts that are included.
This is a driveble heb, remember, and it is a real one, despite the dash. If I had the money, I whould roll it like it is :? .Where is my Lotery ticket?
This one is different from the restored ones, Everybody noticed it in Hessisch. The same goes for South African heb, No nrs known but the history from 57 until today is known, for Hamburgerheb the same, for VONDEUN HEB, Fantomas heb, ....You know what I mean. They have their own identity in surplus it is a heb. You can identify it instantly as 'that one'.
With a restored heb, you have to ask the nrs to identify them.

I know that the ad now , for 201 will come with most of the needed parts and some history. I even know that there is a carboard strip with the car that included all the nrs for the car, axels, engine, pan, body, keys, color...
That is only included on a few cars, 3 or 4 to be exactly.
The ad does not say it has the Split dash included. It is a misunderstanding that the Ghia dash is included( obviously is that included  ) .

To pin a price on a heb....Cheap one was sold few years ago for about 10.000 Euro  , missed it in one day.
Expensive heb was sold for + 100.000 Euro.

Best regards. Peter

Interesting read Peter, thanks for the reply. Would you say a Hebmuller is consistantly the most expensive air cooled VW today? Or will a Schwimmer of Type 82E for example beat it?

Well, it is al about taste and money..and not forgetting the demand and offer.
To say it is the most expensive air cooled VW today is a bit high...
Rometsch, Dannenhauer, Denzel, Beutler, wendler to name a few are to my opnion more expensive but you have to like them and find them.
A schwimmer is also expensive but what about the looks? I do not see much schwimmers go to Hessich by road on their own wheels.
Most of the 29 hebs came in own power.

Best regards. Peter

I know there could be a thousand reasons, but it concerns me why the numbers are not in the car.
OK he may have removed them to repaint, but surely you'd put them back.

Hi george.
The nrs are there because the previous owner did not put them back on the car.
The current owner had the intention to restore this and collected parts to do this.
He asked me lots of questions. I think he even had at one point the both front clips.
flat with no tools shelf and small tank and later one not sure wich one he should use.
Because of the idea to restore the car, the plates were not mounted.

Why it is up for sale is his choise, maybe something different came his way or another project, who knows?

To figure out what a fair price is , is hard to tell..If is like I asked you what is a fair price for a 50 convert
If you bought a schwimmer, you could easely schwimm to Hessisch ...from UK   That whould be a convoy BOB could not beat, however he could join you in Rotterdam  .

I kinda feel the same way about vw prices Rob. I have been getting into old italian and french bicycles instead. you can buy the coolest bikes... with all the crazy lug work... still cheap sometimes. I just bought a beauty at a swap meet... 25 dollars. after cleaning it up... it looks great. And with the less important frames... they are fun to turn into single speeds... or "fixies".

It is the same" jones" as vw's were 30 years ago before everyone was into them and the prices were sky high.

I still like vw's... it is just the prices of the cars has gone so high there is never one cheap enough to just buy on a whim anymore...now it is a serious financial consideration!... kind of takes the fun out of it.
