Went on a convoy cruise round from St Albans, via M25 towards Volksworld Show with 25 other cars.

Turned round at M4, just wanted a run out in the car.

What was it like? Kids were all ill too, so didn't want to leave Mrs in lurch all day.

Heard it was all sharp elbows, pushchairs and queues. Lots of folk waiting for hours to get into the car parks...

Prefer the outdoor shows.

I thought it was great! Yes it was a bit busy in places, but I reckon it's the best Volksworld I've been to (but I didn't have a car on display). Loved seeing the Berlin-Rome car and the VW38 in pride of place on the rotating platforms.

Credit where it is due.
Which other British show could attract such visitors?
And with such visitors,it's going to get busy.

The Volksworld show must take a massive effort to stage.

Does anyone have the top 20 list.

I don't have a list, but I was there for the prize giving... mostly modified cars in the top 20, buggies/jeeps etc. Mike's pickup won an award and the Tempo matador, I think they were the only stock cars in the list. Berlin-Rome and 38 were special guests and as such were exempt from the prize giving, but were given special awards on the Saturday night. Best of show was a extremely modded Volksrod.

Put the back wings on and the bumper, brakets for the rear flashers and run some wireing front and back for said flashers :d

Managed to get the entire sunroof mechanism out, although one screw on the runners decided to play silly buggers, and refuse to budge. A good soaking in WD40, a few hefty 'interventions' with an impact screwdriver, and after lunch break, out it came. Apart from this, removing the sunroof was far easier than I thought. Mind you, getting it back in probably won't be so easy......,

Tomorrow, I'll make a start on removing the wiring, and hopefully get to take the petrol tank out too. After that, not much left, and it'll be away to the man with the magic welder!!

Spent Thursday, Friday evenings and most of Saturday with Zehbeh, at his workshop, fitting the "temporary" 1500 motor into the car. So much for the myth of parts interchangeability! They really don´t like to be stuffed into 30hp cars. Had to remove the heat exchangers and bits of the distributor to get it to fit at all, and then wind it onto the gearbox with a length of threaded bar.

It ran nicely for 10 minutes and then blew the new flywheel oil seal out. Fffffuuu......:x

Not hugely, no!:(

I wouldn´t mind so much but these motor problems have been dragging on for years! I´m starting to think there´s somekind of curse on the thing.

Just inspected the underside of the '56 after Jon diagonally reversed this lowered car over a drop kerb.

The raised kerb corner has put a distinct crease along the pan under the driver's seat. This has forced the seat runners apart slightly, making the seat very difficult to adjust.

But the car looks cool lowered of course.
