And why the bitching – a matter of opinion anyway.:thumbdn:

You are not drawing comparisons as a matter of interest (which would actually be very interesting) but instead you take every oportunity to knock the VW38...

Looks like the Grundmann's panel may not be accurate.

Anyway, their panels are about 3 weeks old remember.

Post something of topical interest and get a rebuff anyway. We need a bitching forum too.

In my defence I think you should ask Rudy if I'm just as rude face to face. I'm sure he'll back me up when I say I'm just as reliably rude in real life.:d

On a serious note this all looks like it's starting to turn into the distasteful keyboard firing that I got over on that "you have a car better than ours and we don't like it friends only" VW forum.....please stop, it's not good for pre67.

Maybe I just got a little excited and above things, Rob. I shot out into my garage just before getting off to work this morning to get the pictures, really excited about the panels after seeing the VW38s here yesterday.

But not to worry, I'm soaking wet with the bucket of cold water thrown earlier, you'll be pleased to know that the enthusiasm's washed away.:bored:

Steady on...I can see you claiming your 47 is an experimental VW37 next...

I think what people here have found most annoying is the assumption that you are right and the VW38 team with their vast specific knowledge on the subject, are wrong.

Totally bizarre.

If there hadn't have been the constant negative comments regarding the 'new' VW38, then that door card photo may have sparked some interesting conversation. But I'm left feeling like the only reason you posted that up was to have (another) little pop at the car.

It is interesting that the door cards are so similar over ten years on, but they are clearly different structurally (handle locations etc) to those on a '38, and there are many, many photos of #6 showing how they were originally, and without getting into looking at my computer screen through a magnifying glass they look spot on.

You clearly dont like the way the restoration has been done, and that's fine if you do (of course it is, it's your opinion), but please dont keep making snide comments about the car then make yourself out to be the misquoted victim.

The VW38 team have not posted every single piece of documentary evidence used to reconstruct the car...there's too much of it...it's not possible. Because of this you're making the assumption that arbitrary decisions have been made in details that differ from those held in your "database."

You're expecting everything on VW38 to be justified without subjecting your own version to the same scrutiny. Bizarre is the right word.

…I was there the day you bought that '47 at Auction.
The auctioneer had to warn you,you were bidding against yourself.
I've heard of trotting a bid,but that's ridiculous…
And i wouldn't call a car that's been repainted,unrestored either.
And are you also sure the chrome bumpers are original?

Thanks mate.

And '50 Karmann, if a 1947 Beetle hasn't had much more than a repaint, it would be considered a rather original car given the age and rarity. I did not increase the selling cost of the car against myself either. I did however consider it a car far too good to let pass and was prepared to pay more if need be to get it.
