We went for a spin this evening, made a few people smile and got several thumbs up and a few waves as we pootled along. We haven't ventured out for several months due to rain and a flakey battery so it was good to feel the wind in our semaphores...

The big day finally arrived this morning. After weeks of stripping out, bagging and labelling everything, the van and trailer were booked, and the van was loaded with the new panels. The Oval was pulled out of the garage, and with the help of a few extra volunteers, loaded on to the trailer. Next stop the bodyshop.
The guys there are classic car restorers, tackling anything from veteran cars to modern(!?) classics, so they've seen it all.
On arrival we spent time going round the car discussing the work needed, and the unanimous opinion is that my car is going to turn out very well, and shouldn't present many problems.

Bring it on!:d

Hi Andy,

The only pictures I took on the day were of the car on the trailer outside the house. Due to time restrictions, (I only had the van and trailer for a day), we had to curtail our time at the workshop as it's eighty miles from home, and we had to get it all back.

It turns out that the trailer pictures are too big to upload, so here's one I took last week of the car totally stripped, and ready to go.  Almost Stripped Out 1.JPG You have insufficient rights to see the content.  Almost Stripped Out 2.JPG You have insufficient rights to see the content.

Took the cabrio for its MOT. It passed after fiddling with the wipers and washers for a bit...

Also, it started each time I needed it to   IMG_2595.jpg You have insufficient rights to see the content.

Today I have been in the garage and cleared all the bikes out of there and put them in the house. I then cleared all the boxes of bits out of the shell and sorted out what I needed to get welded to the shell. I've also sorted out what body panels I had in the attic and they now reside on the spare bed :omg: The bonnet and decklid are leaning up against the wall in the garage and the shell is easilly accessable.

The reason ? Well tomorrow with the help of my trusted and reliable friend, we're going to be loading the shell and floorpan onto a car trailer in preparation for Wednesday's trip to the body shop

Have only been waiting a couple of years for this moment, so a day or two extra isn't going to make a difference

Excited ? You could say that :d

Seriously, that's great news. I can't wait to see the old car again,it's been a long time coming. How long is it going to be in the bodyshop for?

Car went into Mr. Hook's bodyshop on Wednesday to have all the welding done. Should take about 3 months as Steve also has his panels to make , so he will put half a week's work in on the car, and the other half working on his panels.

I'll post a few pictures up over the weekend, but they're not that exciting.
