Btw you've never followed a 6v lowlight ghia if you think the rear indicator lights flash. They are telepathy based indicators.

The slab sided monstrosity with massive rear window for comparison...

If you want off load one of the "Worst Cars" ever that you own I'd be happy to take pity on it and save it from the scrappage scheme ;-)

'Slab-sided' is a term that well describes full body width cars, which today is just about everything, Beetles, Morris Minors and most cars from the pre 1950s do not have this plain-sided style. They have separate flowing wings, and many have running boards. While the Ghia is all very nice, to my eye it is of the more modern style, (not a monstrosity!) and I just don't think that cars without semaphores are really that old. If the Ghia is off to the scrappage scheme I won't be after it. I've space here for your smashing two vintage Beetles though

And I was thinking 'lucky sod':!:

A Razor Edge Ghia would be nice to own on account of its rarity due to short production and severe tin worm. With such a huge glass area I could grow my veggies in it too:twisted:

Don't follow Ghias, sooner be looking at the back of a split-window Beetle any day. No car deserves so much character as the original VW

This is nice:beer:

Stuff Top Gear:!:

The Mini of which they think so much ran to less than 5 million units built, and that number includes vans, estates and pickups, whereas the old VW was practically all just the car at nearly 22 million (maybe nearer to 21 million though?)

Notice that Porche's early Deluxe is not shiny either

Certainly not intended to be. Just as football is almost a religion to some, even men of the cloth, so it is for some with their obsession with the old VW 😮

I recently discovered this forum and registered. Then I found this interesting topic about Top Gear and their dislike towards VW beetle's. I'm from the Netherlands and Top gear is a huge succes over here (although they're a year behind over here with the series). I'm a real VW addict myself owning several pre-67's. Therefore I was really suprised when at Top Gear they started to whine about how bad beetles are an how ugly and that they're nazi cars and so on and so on. In Holland nobody cares about the beetle being a German car. WW2 is so long a go. And after all it were the Britts who saved the VW factory from being bombed.

Despite the beetle boycot I still liked Top Gear, That's until I saw a preview of series 16 for next year. In the short movie clip a 70's beetle is seen hanging under a helicopter and being dropped. That's it, I'm going to set up a Top Gear boycot here in Holland.

If you want to view to clip go to:
