Unless anyone has any objections, I'd like to now delete this entire thread. I don't see any reason that it should be kept?

I really do hope you've got your tongue planted firmly in your cheek. Either that or you're seriously deluded!! lol

I do stand by that. Rattletrap made the TV here at prime time twice, and millions saw him, and most saw a split-window Beetle for the first time. Not many here back then. Rattletrap was the first split I saw remember, by chance too in 1977. It got me into the hobby big time and I've been in it ever since.

So why scoff :?:

Hello everyone............have we calmed down now?

I now attempt to change whinge direction.

I drove to my local show on Sunday....Dub freeze (I do not like word DUB.)

There was not one stock Beetle in the showshine bit.

The Beetles there all with narrow front ends and were very low and roofracks full of old rubbish..............I do not understand! There are some pictures on Vzone for you to see. There is a comment awesome by the picture I think aweful!

I now look forward to Stamford Hall to see nice Beetles.

I am going to Bad Camberg and hope all ratty look cars stay home.

PS shame i cannot go inside with my stock 71.

I think it's £10 to get in, that's what it was when I went to 'Busfreeze' a few months ao. Basically the same as Dubfreeze, but more rat look buses and far fewer traders.

To be fair, the price is well document months in advance, I guess £10 is reasonable if you manage to find a nice bargain inside, but I've not been to the last two Dubfreeze's (plural of Dubfreeze?) so cant comment on that really.

I was once called a 'fellow V-Dubber'. Makes me shudder to this day.

Our little mob decided staying in bed was a better option for the second year running. Paying a tenner to shuffle around an overcrowded cattle shed, looking for parts which aren't actually there has lost it's appeal somewhat. I've come home empty handed pretty much every year since 2005ish. All the good stuff and bargains just gets traded privately in the car park by way of adverts on bloody *zi and whatnot these days, anyway.

Ooh, we suddenly have our very own show moan thread. We'll have people posting Red Hot Chili Peppers and Specials song lyrics for no reason whatsoever, next. Beware ye all...

Not unexpected as the biggest part of the whole VW scene is modified vehicles. Just the way it is. I would say that for quite a few...mainly younger enthusiast's, a stock VW is not seen as a "cool" mode of transport.
