Following a review meeting with representatives of the Lavenham Parish Council at the weekend,
I am pleased to be able to let you all know that the second Lavenham Vintage VW meet will be
happening as planned on Saturday 23rd June 2012.
We hope to be able to start the registration process next summer, so please keep an eye on the website

Great news Malc :d
Any idea of dates so we can look at booking hotels / B&B etc.
Might even give me the kick up the arse I need to get a move on with mine  (That's if I can remember where I left it  )

Great news indeed, Lavenham 2008 was the best show I've ever attended, lovely location (helped by the fantastic weather that weekend) and the best selection of vintage VW metal ever assembled in the UK.
I'll be there :)

Definitely be there in the 67 8)
Great news and great work! :d

(but to bad I can't participate with my Vintage VW, as it was built in sept. 1968 )

Everything was booked for Lavenham 2008 and at the end ,I could not go...every month , the ferry-newsletter reminds me of the " not used booked transfer to England "
I will start planing right now for Lav 2012 !! Great news !! Thanks to the whole Lavenham team for making this happen !!!!!:d

A nice 68 has so much more vintage appeal than a later early 70s on. A shame a car like this is not allowed yet type 3s are :?
Great its going to happen, I can't bring my 70 though :(

Hey guys, before you lose heart, remember that we have a VW only parking area for anyone who owns a VW to use. Everyone is welcome to come to Lavenham, no matter what year or how low your VW is. In 2008 we had over 200 VW's on the meadow and the atmosphere was just fantastic! So, whilst the display area is controlled, there is still plenty of opportunity for everyone to come and have a great day out.
Posted by: Bert53 - 26 July 2010 23:42:24
Great news Malcolm and well done again for all your hard work during Lavenham 2008. The Lavenham Parish Council must have been impressed by your organisation to invite us all back :d

The previous Rattletrap post is amusing, yet this guy has a moan to the administrator.
A feature of Lavenham for me will be Rattletrap not a Karmann Ghia. I'd imagine Standard split's enthusiasm must be getting dented by the numerous anti-rattletrap comments littering these forums, so I'd not blame him not bothering taking it there. His thread is even locked too for good measure – hence this has had to go here :!:

I was thinking of booking for Lavenham 2012, but then I had a thought. Would I fit in? Would I be accepted into the inner sanctum? Or would I be sat on my own in the corner? My friend and his brother went to a local VW club recently in their bay campers. They were almost ignored! Thoughts please....

Yep, there's public parking (including 2 disabled spaces) available by the Cock Inn, opposite the church and there's a smaller car park on Prentice Street also with disabled spaces.

Hi, Last time we had just over 100 stock pre-67 VWs plus a VW only parking area which was full as well.
This time, with a little re-arranging we should have space for around 200 plus a large VW only parking area again.
More details to follow soon when the registration opens.
(at the end of January with any luck!)

There's no 'concours' at the show, its open to daily drivers and full on restorations alike. The most important thing is that you bring your car, join in and have fun.
There are people who will pick fault with any car, the trick is to ignore those and only listen to the people telling you exactly what you want to hear
There's no 'concours' at the show, its open to daily drivers and full on restorations alike. The most important thing is that you bring your car, join in and have fun.
There are people who will pick fault with any car, the trick is to ignore those and only listen to the people telling you exactly what you want to hear
Hi Fernando,
There are several people coming up from the south coast for the show.
I will email them and see if anyone will meet up with you and drive (on the left!) with you to Lavenham.

There are several of us travelling up from Sussex, which could conceivably be on the way to Lavenham from Portsmouth or Southampton. We're probbably going to form a mini convoy, though details aren't firm yet.
If we do, and the timing works, you'd be welcome to join us. I live in Worthing, very close to the A27, so it would be easy to meet up as the A27 is as good a route as any if you're heading East to Suffolk from Portsmouth or Southampton.

I registered for the show a while ago. It might say somewhere and I might have missed it, but do we receive passes or just turn up on the day? :?

Hi, You'll need to sign in at the village hall which is right at the back of the car park next to The Cock Public House, Opposite the Church on the high street. You can do this from Friday lunch time until the evening or, if you're only going for the day, between 8am and 9am on saturday morning. Vehiches need to be in position in the displays for 9am.
I'll email everyone who has registered full details nearer the show date.
