A popular thread over on Restowagen so... Post your picture of the day, you're only allowed one per day and it has to be (stock) pre67vw related. Either period pictures or nice recent photos are fine. :d Here's mine...

Thanks George and 48REME... I love it but I have to admit it's not a show car nor do I want it to be. It's a survivor and generally a daily driver all its life. I think the fact that it shows so well is a testimony to a fantastic classic Ghia design.

Here is the info on that coupe. And it is all I have on it. Sattler maier coupé: The company KARL MAIER, better known as KAMEI is involved with this car. The coupe was made in 1947 in a small workshop in Wolfsburg. THe persons involved in the creation of this car are: Karl Maier for the seats A Schöpel for the body and a certain NICHERSKI for the paint. The finacier of this project was Friedrich Peter Lorenz SANDKAMP. The car was only made once and where it is now is unknown. This info is found in the book : ETZOLD: DER KAFER IV ISBN 3-7168-1890-9 It is a hard to find book , the 3 others are more comon on meetings to find. Book I is about beetles from 45 until last one( 1980) Book 2 is about the birth of the beetle from 36 until weltmeisterkafer book 3 is about the all kind of advertising, models in scale, clubs, books, tuning,...

The model was on display last year in Essen on a vintage motorshow. It stood on top of a cabinet full of rare Porsche stuff. I tried to take a pict of the stuff but the glass teflected it to much.:( Here is another shot. It was taken on the stand from Prototyp museum in Hamburg. I asume it is an original model that was shown in the book birth of a beetle...:? not sure about that.

Always wanted to make a few little changes to the Zelensis. Wish they looked like this. Anyone have a spare body?

Posted by: zelensis61 - 23 October 2009 21:43:58
well, JD you just put me on the right track. Now I cant sleep this night. The problem with the A pilar is that there is a block of wood in it. A rather thick one. The B pillar is not that much of a problem...could consider vent windows from a 70s car. You want a body....search for a time machine or get me enough money to pull a new mould of mine. If you look close to the last pict you see an attempt of Raul to design a sort of coupe model with fastback lines. Hard to see on the small pict but the original is clearer but that is due to it being 5 mb big scan. Picts taken in late 50 ies and shown is car nr 1

Correct john, He sold it a few years ago shortly after this meeting. He packed his gear and moved from his houst in Antwerp to the northsea coast in an appartment. The car is now not far from me situated with a car dealer-collector.
What I imagined was a windscreen frame from some other sports car - something with a chromed metal frame. A 356 Cabrio maybe? The Zelensis screen looks like a kit car part - too thick looking. The big change that you maybe didn´t notice was adding some depth to the body. I suppose you could lower the sills to get a similar effect. It looks too thin as it is IMHO. Maybe three or four inches added to the body and also reshaping the tail so it doesn´t droop down like it does now. And the door also. I like all the rest! :d
