Spent today working on the cabrio, pleased with the progress - it's really starting to look like a car again now. Still got a lot to do though.
WHITEWALLS!!!! You big tart
You can't say that to the BOSS man  If you want to have a go at me, "Mr Whitewalls with no inner tubes"...that's a different matter. Cabrio's looking good Rob...love the whitewalls. :D

Posted by: pre67vw - 17 February 2008 20:27:59
 If it was an earlier car I wouldn't go with the whitewalls, but I think they look great on later cars... 8) It looks better in the photos than real life, there are quite a few bit's I'll probably revisit later, just want the damn thing back on the road after so many years.

I see - paint your wheels back to front, fit the wrong indicators and a small numberplate light?* Rob - I'm shocked! This should be on some Volksrods forum surely?! :P Looks lovely mind you. Wish mine was that shiney. *(Strangely, these are exactly the mods my old `65 had! Great minds? I think so.)
Wish mine was that shiney.
Like I said, it looks better in the photos than real life. There are about 4 flies fosilized for eternity in the drivers door, then other areas are littered with either dry patches or runs. It should look OK so long as I never park near one of George's cars

Does look nice Rob. :) I see it's registered for Lavenham, Will it be finished in time ? Looks to me like you only need a hood fitted. Looking forward to seeing it. Need to pull my finger out now or I'll be the only one on here without a road going car soon...

Ah! I see...........already the first modified car has sneaked into Lavenham  Shame on you.

Posted by: six-o-one - 21 February 2008 09:51:01
As far as I know, the three main hotels in Lavenham are now fully booked. The Swan did have a four-poster room @ £235 a night though when I last phoned around. You should be able to find a B&B or you could try Sudbury, Claire or Long Melford which are very close (7km) and full of hotels and guest houses. There's also Bury St. Edmonds (17km) https://www.suffolktouristguide.com/ https://www.visit-suffolk.org.uk https://www.booking.com https://www.bedandbreakfasts.co.uk If you still don't have any luck, let me know What dates you want etc. and I'll see what I can find for you. Wow I bet you are getting a bit stressed about now, but you look almost there! I think it is almost more exciting when its someone else's car as there is no panic involved. I am gazing in my crystal ball and, I see a few late nights on the horizon.. It looks super, you must be feeling good. So, just that slowcoach Chris left now..

Looks absolutely great and black is so stylish! It will be nice to see the 'father' of this vintage VW forum arrive with his own piece of motor history for the first time! 'Bon courage' for the last bits to do! :d

I'm sorry to say that it's not going to be there, just too much to do and not enough time to get it all done. On the plus side though, I have a very cool loaner - a blue two seater
