Its a pity I dont live nearer, or I could come round and give you some 'encouragement'/NAGGING! if you need?

Anyway, if I was you I would stay with your current timetable of a quarter of a turn per bolt once a month and just keep driving that lovely 47 instead
Oh, you've though of that already? Ok ok then!

If you are enjoying your own pace then why rush? But then it would be nice to drive it to H.O. next year too would'nt it?! :D
Anyway, I like the suspense. And I love diamond green so I am excited for you however long it takes 😃

Hello, this is my parents car "Tman" on here!

Just thought that you may like to know that she is on the road, mot'ed, going to shows and we even met pete one of her previous owners in the 80s! Coinsidently he runs O'conners campers!

She has done getting on for 3000 miles since we had her on the road and we have been to Volksfest wales, Cornwall vw jamboree, stonor, BVF, lavenham, peppercorn and many, many more!

Her gearbox is however knackered and getting worse every time we drive her, so if anyone has a gearbox that theyre not using it we are in the market for one! We dont need a split case and as the gearbox has been replaced in the past we dont feel that we need to get a year prefect one. Just one with axle tubes!

Since getting her we have changed the engine (she had lost her original ages ago so dont panic!), added year correct heart tail lights and just generally given her a good clean!

We were in Truro a few days ago when she was rear ended by some idiot who felt that watching some guy on a sit on mower was more important than braking! She came away with a dented decklid (original), a knackered rear bumper (original) the decklid does now not sit squarly and the right bumper hanger if scrap!

On the plus side though we had a hoofing great tow bar and managed to crush the front of his car and when he drove away (with us still broken down as we were leaking oil!) he was leaking coolant oil so it would have been only a matter of miles before he broke down in a puff of black smoke!

I have included a picture of her at the Lavenham campsite after a hard day on display next to another texas brown oval, at the town square at Lavenham and of her as she sat for 20 years in the barn!

I had a good look at this oval in the show and shine area of VanFest on Sunday, but couldn't see any sign of the owner to have a chinwag tho'......
Was very interested to see though that it had an identical colour interior to my Sahara Beige '53 ie beige leatherette.
At Stanford Hall this year I'm sure that all the RHD (Deluxe) early ovals ( am talking 53/54 here) that were there had the same colour interior too!
Does this mean that for the UK at least the only upholstery offered by VW Motors GB for its early imports was beige, or can someone provide a definitive answer?

Hi, My January '55 RHD oval Deluxe has a beige leatherette interior too, but according to the birth certificate from Wolfsburg this was option M 079 (leatherette instead of material). Whether they were all supplied in the same colour I don't know, but my friend Phil Murgatroyd's '54 Deluxe is exactly the same.
